EQ vs IQ in FIRE

FIRE is not based on IQ. Its not all that simple. Let me explain you FIRE starters with an example.

There are two people(Person A and Person B) with IQ 100 and 110 respectively. Lets say they started at the same day and with same amount of money. If you want to check math skills/ intelligence skills we could say person B is superior than person A. But when it comes to FIRE, These(IQ) are just numbers that are independent if a person can achieve financial independence.

Money is an emotion. We all know that we need to spend less than we earn. We know that debt is bad. We know everything that pulls us down financially but still we will be doing dumb things. Its got nothing to do with our IQ, it got to deal with EQ. It all revolves around those emotions. Emotions like temptation of getting a fancy new sports car. Temptation of having latest version of smartphone which is just a notch better than we already have. 

IQ we can improve by going to a class or taking a course and dedicating some time in understanding math/science behind it. But who will teach you EQ? Who will tell you that the phone you have now in your hand with which you might be reading this blog is enough for your daily use? Resisting temptations are particularly hard when they have flashy adverts shining on your screen, telling us how just upgrading to that product can change our life. This is all crap.

Success comes quick when EQ and IQ both go hand in hand

Its ok to have used car as your first car. Its ok to have 2 year old version of andriod or iOS. What's not ok is you getting broke and cant meet yours and your family's needs. Its you who will has to feed your family and take care about them, not those people who talk about you.
